Markus Parkus grew up in suburban New Jersey, listening tothe rock of the late 90’s, Arlo Guthrie, and Weird Al Yankovic. Over time, heunsuccessfully tried his hand at a variety of instruments, including thetrumpet, piano, drums, and harmonica. Through middle school, he saw the riseand fall of the New Jersey emo scene. Open to a wide variety of music, heaffiliates himself most strongly with punk rock, which there is an abundance ofin Jersey. Markus Parkus listens to and incorporates musicians and bands intohis show that have something to bring the listener, and aren’t just a radiofriendly single.
